Goethe-Zertifikat A1 (Start German 1) Exam Schedule
The official list below only shows time slots reserved and not confirmed exams. Please check with your instructor whether or not a course has its final exam within this time.

If you require special accommodations due to a chronic illness, visual or hearing impairment, you should contact the exam provider directly and be sure to submit a thorough documentation upon registration.
Faculty may find their exam times through the "View My Teaching Schedule" task on the Faculty Dashboard in Workday. In addition the Registrar's Office has a list of exam times for courses in which an exam is required by NYSED regulations. Final exams for classes in the evening are scheduled during the regular class meeting times of the final exams.

Registration
The exam schedule is available online and students are encouraged to consult it. It is important to keep in mind that the schedule for exams may be altered at any time. Students should therefore inquire with their instructors to confirm the correct date and time of their exam. Students should also print the official list to take to their exam.
Students should also be familiar with the rules and conditions of the exam, in addition to the schedule. These are on the page for each exam. Upon registration, students acknowledge that they accept these terms and conditions.
Exam sites try their best to accommodate those with special requirements. The nature and the extent of these needs must be noted on the registration and confirmed by a medical attestation. In addition, the exam locations must respect confidentiality and be maintained.
If a student has three exams scheduled for the same day, it is suggested to contact their department or instructor to schedule a make-up exam. While it is possible to take three tests in one day, it can cause a high stress level and could impact the quality of the test. The professor may not be able give an opportunity to take a makeup test on a different day.
Before taking the exam students must prepare by reviewing their course material and practicing their German skills. The test is a test on paper that assesses the ability to speak, read, and write in German. The test results are reported using a scale from A1 to C2. Students who pass the test receive a Goethe-Zertifikat. The certificate documents achievement of language level A1. This level is the first level of the six-level scale of competence laid out in the Common European Framework of Reference for Foreign Languages. The test is free of cost. Students are required to carry a valid government ID to the exam. Students who do not have a valid picture identification will be disqualified.
Fees

If you have completed your studies at Elan Academy and wish to obtain an Goethe-Zertifikat A1 (start German 1), you must pay the examination fee. This is in addition to the course fee.
Practice assessments allow you to get a feel for the style, wording, and difficulty of the questions on the test. They help you evaluate your proficiency, identify gaps in knowledge and improve your chances of passing the test.
Please note that the fee for exams is not refundable. Exam results can only by emailed and not via telephone.
